Mahaakshay Chakraborty, a.k.a Mimoh, made a shocking revelation about the harsh realities of Bollywood’s inner circles. In a rare and emotionally charged conversation, the actor shared how his parents, veteran actors Mithun Chakraborty and Yogeeta Bali, were mocked and targeted by some of the top industry insiders. Haunted 3D actor revealed how the top insiders mocked his mother and targeted his legendary father through him.
Mimoh Chakraborty shares how insiders used him to mock and target his parents
Mithun Chakraborty, popularly known as ‘Mithun Da’, is one of the most well-known names in the industry, whose fame has spread beyond India over the years. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Mimoh recalled how some Bollywood biggies and renowned actors used his career as a medium to insult his father. What hurt Mimoh the most, however, was how the mockery extended to his mother. He said:
“They were making fun of my mom. I would understand for my dad, yes, carrying his legacy. Mere zariye, they were insulting dad, because you cannot pinpoint and say ki Mithun Chakraborty isme kharab tha. It’s because his legacy is so strong, toh unko laga chalo Mimoh ke through humlog Mithun Chakraborty ko bhi gaali de denge.”
Given his father’s iconic legacy, Mimoh finds himself being addressed as the superstar’s son, rather than taking his own name. The actor admitted that while criticism aimed at him or his father was something he had somewhat grown used to, dragging his mother into it was unacceptable.
“So they weren’t writing my name, they said Mithun Chakraborty’s son, Mithun da ka beta, so they wanted to feel good, whoever they were. But then it became too much, and it was going to my mother. And there were actors in the industry who did that. Forget normal people, audience, it was people from the industry jo khule aam jaake mom ka mazaak uda rahe the. And it became a little too much for me. Ki yaar mere tak thik hai, dad tak thik hai, but mom pe mat jaao, you know. But then I know we all go through this.”
Mimoh on the burden of his father’s legacy
Being the son of a cinema icon has its perks and fills Mimoh with pride, but it also brings immense challenges. Since his debut, he has carried the weight of living up to his father’s legacy, often feeling the need to perform “better than Mithun Da.” With time, however, that pressure gave way to clarity. He now focuses on roles that reflect his own identity rather than chasing an unattainable benchmark. Mimoh recently received ample praise for his impressive work in Khakee: The Bengal Chapter. In his words:
“Pehele (pressure) lagta tha, abhi nahi lagta hai. Abhi, I am like just playing the characters, which I believe. Because kya hoga, if I go on set thinking that every shot has to be better than my father, woh kabhi nahi ho paayega; because he is him. Mithun Chakraborty will always be one Mithun Chakraborty. I can’t imitate him. Even if I do, I won’t be able to reach his stature, and I just want to be Mimoh. I want to be remembered, like you said, Haunted ka hero, so that is my legacy. Now, when you see Khakee, I was in it, I cannot compete with my father, and I don’t want to compete with him. I just want to be Mimoh.”
