Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been through a lot in the past few years. First, it was her separation from Naga Chaitanya, followed by her auto-immune disorder, an autoimmune disease, Myositis, in 2022. In 2024, Samantha got another blow as her father, Joseph Prabhu, passed away. Now, Samantha revealed going through millions of emotions when she boarded the early flight to attend her father’s last rites and how she had to smile for her fans’ selfies.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu, in an interview with Galatta India, talked about her father’s death, while she was in Mumbai. She shared that her father passed away on November 29, 2025. She quickly flew to Chennai to be with her family. While she was in shock, she had to smile at her fan’s photo request.

The actress shared that she never refuses to take pictures with her fans as they are the reason behind her success. While she boarded the flight in shock, a group of fans requested her for pictures, and she had to smile for the same. Sharing the short story, Samantha said:

“I never say no to pictures because they are the people who made you who you are. I remember just recently in December, I got a call in the morning from my mother that my dad has passed away. I had to take the first flight out of Mumbai to Chennai and I was in shock because I had not spoken to my dad in a while. I was kind of frozen on the flight without much reaction and I remember there were quite a few people who asked for my picture and I remember standing and taking all these pictures and smiling.”

Samantha further added that it takes a lot of courage to ask someone for a picture, and she didn’t want to upset her fans. It was the moment Samantha realised that it was one of the major drawbacks of her profession as no normal person would be smiling on the death day of her father. She said:

“The thing is if you just say ‘no’, they don’t know what state you are in… it takes a lot of courage to walk up to someone and ask them to take a picture with you. So I didn’t want to say no and upset them. When I was smiling for these pictures, it hit me that no normal person would be expected to smile on the day their dad died. It is absolutely another world.”
