Ukraine and its allies are ready for a “full, unconditional ceasefire” with Russia starting Monday, the country’s foreign minister said on Saturday.“Ukraine and all allies are ready for a full unconditional ceasefire on land, air, and at sea for at least 30 days starting already on Monday,” Ukrainian FM Andrii Sybiha posted on X.“If Russia agrees and effective monitoring is ensured, a durable ceasefire and confidence-building measures can pave the way to peace negotiations,” Sybiha added.His comments came as leaders from four major European countries arrived in Kyiv to push for a truce and start peace talks with Moscow, hoping to end the nearly three-year-long war.The announcement came on the final day of Russia’s self-declared three-day ceasefire, which Ukraine reports has been consistently breached by Russian forces.Earlier in March, whilst Ukraine accepted a US proposal for an immediate 30-day limited truce, Russia maintained its position, seeking more favourable conditions.The leaders of France, Germany, Poland, and the UK arrived together at Kyiv’s train station and met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.Soon after they participated in a ceremony at Independence Square commemorating the 80th anniversary of World War II’s conclusion.The leaders paid their respects at an improvised flag memorial, lighting candles to honour Ukrainian military personnel and civilians who lost their lives during the Russian invasion.This was the first time the leaders of France, Germany, Poland, and the UK visited Ukraine together, and also marked German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s first visit to the country.
