This swift move has drawn sharp criticism from Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, who condemned the actions as opportunistic. Readers may recall that Bollywood Hungama recently reported that a flurry of applications for the title were submitted to the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA), with prominent names in the industry among those vying for the rights. This rapid scramble has been interpreted by many as an attempt to capitalize on a sensitive national event.

Priyanka Chaturvedi expressed her strong disapproval via her social media platform “X” (formerly Twitter), where she labelled those rushing to register the title as “shameless vultures.” Her tweet received a mixed reaction from the netizens. “What’s wrong with it? Visual art simplifies it for the viewers – most of Indians know the details of 370 thru the movie and it was Dang!!! So we would love to watch Operation Sindoor as well,” wrote a Twitterati, while another commented, “Celebrating Bollywood with Padma Awards while it continues to profit off society’s wounds is unacceptable.. That’s not art it’s exploitation.”

For the unversed, Bollywood Hungama was the first one to report that Bollywood filmmakers are rushing to register the ‘Operation Sindoor’ title. A source told us, “The unexpected competition for the ‘Operation Sindoor’ title has sparked intense discussion in the film industry. Now, everyone’s attention is focused on which producer will ultimately get the title. Experts believe that according to the rules, the producer who applied for the title first will have the strongest claim.”
