Stand-up comedian Samay Raina expressed his support and saluted the Indian armed forces after the successful neutralisation of drone and missile attacks by Pakistan in Jammu. He also shared an update about his father in Jammu and the late-night call he had with him. He further added that his father had a ‘steady and calm’ tone and urged him not to worry.

Raina’s father is currently in Jammu, which has been experiencing a series of attacks since last night. “My father calls me one last time tonight from Jammu to say goodnight. His voice, steady and calm, urges me to sleep and not worry – the Indian armed forces have everything under control. His calmness quiets my restless thoughts. I switch off the lights in my Mumbai home and walk to the window to draw the curtains (sic),” he wrote on his Instagram Story on Thursday.

He further added, “Outside my window, my neighbour’s lights still glow. I know little about him, that’s just how it is here. I wonder if he, too, has family in Jammu, perhaps in Pathankot or if he might be the son of a brave soldier, who won’t sleep tonight, waiting for a morning call from his father on the front lines. My utmost respect to the armed forces and their families for all the sacrifices they make for our safety. Goodnight. Jai Hind (sic).”

In another story, he asked the people of Jammu to believe in the Indian army and sleep peacefully. “My prayers with everyone in Jammy. Sleep peacefully and believe in the Indian army. Jai Hind (sic),” he posted.

Tensions escalated with Pakistan on Thursday as drones and missiles were launched towards India. However, they were intercepted by India’s S-400 defence systems. However, the cross-border shelling in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri left one woman dead and another injured.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will meet the chiefs of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force and the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) to review the situation amid shellings by Pakistan in the border areas.

This escalation came a day after India launched Operation Sindoor in retaliation to the ghastly Pahalgam attack that claimed the lives of 26 people on April 22.
