If you’re planning to open a fixed deposit (FD) in 2025, it’s a smart idea to check which banks are offering the best interest rates before locking in your money. After the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) reduced the repo rate by 25 basis points during its recent policy meeting in April, many banks lowered their FD rates. But even after the cut, a few banks are still offering attractive returns on term deposits.

Here’s a look at six banks that are giving the highest FD interest rates in 2025.

    HDFC BANK

The bank is offering 6.6% on one-year deposits for regular customers and 7.1% for senior citizens. For FDs between 15 and 21 months, the interest rate for general citizens is 7.05%, while for senior citizens, the interest rate is 7.55%.

    PUNJAB NATIONAL BANK (PNB)

PNB offers 6.7% on one-year FDs for general depositors and 7.2% for senior citizens. On 390-day deposits, rates climb to 7.1% and 7.6%, for general and senior citizens, respectively.

    ICICI BANK

Here, a one-year FD gives you 6.7% if you are a general citizen and 7.2% if you are a senior citizen. If you choose a term between 18 months and 2 years, you can earn up to 7.05% (general) and 7.55% (senior).

    FEDERAL BANK

The bank is offering 7.15% for regular customers and 7.65% for seniors on its 444-day deposit scheme. For one-year FDs, the rates are 6.75% and 7.25% for general and senior citizens, respectively.

    KOTAK MAHINDRA BANK

For one-year FDs, the bank is offering 6.8% to general citizens and 7.3% to senior citizens. Its highest rates apply to deposits between 391 days and 23 months, with 7.15% and 7.65% for regular and senior citizens, respectively.

    STATE BANK OF INDIA (SBI)

India’s largest bank, SBI, offers 6.75% to regular customers for a 3-5-year tenure, and 7.25% for seniors.
