Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently shared his honest opinion about actors and how society sees them. In a recent interview, the ‘Sacred Games’ actor said he doesn’t see anything wrong with actors dancing at weddings or private events for big money. In fact, he said he would do the same if he got the chance.

When asked if he would dance at a wedding if given the chance on All About Eve YouTube channel, he replied, “Yes, why not? What’s wrong with it? It’s a part of our profession; people complain that actors dance at weddings, but what’s the problem? At the end of the day, we are all ‘bhands’ (entertainers). Did you know that in the past, ‘bhands’ wouldn’t be allowed to mingle in polite society? They were seen as unfit; they were seen as people who didn’t have any ideologies or beliefs, bad influences. They were kept in tents outside villages. They would only be allowed to enter to perform, and then they’d be sent right back out.”

Other Bollywood stars like Ranveer Singh and Akshay Kumar have also spoken about this. On the show, ‘Koffee with Karan’, Akshay joked that Ranveer keeps dancing at weddings so much that even the bride and groom have to wait for him to stop. Ranveer said he learned this from Akshay, who once told him, “Shaadi hai, main naach raha hoon; birthday hai, main naach raha hoon; mundan hai, bachcha ro raha hai, main naach raha Hoon (It’s a wedding, I’m dancing; it’s a birthday, I’m dancing; it’s a munda ceremony, the child is crying, I’m dancing).”

On the work front, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was last seen in the biographical crime drama ‘Costao‘. He plays the role of Coatao Fernandes, A Goa-based customs officer who risked everything to dismantle a gold smuggling ring. Directed by Sejal Shah, the film is currently streaming on ZEE5 and also features Priya Bapat, Kishore and Hussain Dalal.
