Ibrahim Ali Khan is still fresh in the minds of streaming audiences following his debut in Nadaaniyan, opposite Khushi Kapoor on Netflix. With his second film on the horizon, the young actor is already making headlines not just for his work, but also for his perspective on the current state of the industry.
Ibrahim Ali Khan reflects on changing stardom in 2025; says, “We won’t get stars like Shah Rukh, Salman or Ranbir again”
In an honest conversation with Filmfare, Ibrahim opened up about how stardom has evolved—and how it’s becoming increasingly difficult for young actors to earn the kind of massive following enjoyed by Bollywood icons of the past. “Nowadays, maybe theatres are not the way they used to be. In 2025, the director and the script are the kings,” he said, pointing to the shift in audience preferences and the growing importance of content over celebrity. While earlier generations often rallied behind stars with unmatched loyalty, Ibrahim believes that kind of adulation is no longer the norm.
“I genuinely believe that we won’t get stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Aamir Khan again. That era of actors is gone. It just doesn’t work how it used to work in the ’80s and in the ’90s, when these guys would just stand in front of the camera and the movies would be a hit. People would go crazy over these stars. Nowadays, it’s hard to do that. No one can be a star like that,” he shared.
His comments come at a time when even major films backed by known names have failed to guarantee box office success. With the rise of OTT platforms, content-led cinema, and a discerning audience that prioritizes storytelling, the weight of a “star” name doesn’t hold the same pull it once did.
As he steps further into the limelight with Sarzameen – in which he stars alongside Kajol, industry watchers will be keen to see how Ibrahim carves his niche in this new chapter of Hindi cinema – one where legacy may open the door, but it’s talent and tenacity that keep it open.
