In a recent interview, the actress opened up about her current reading, her admiration for literary icon Maya Angelou, and the sentimental journey behind her first tattoo.

When asked what she’s reading now, Alaya’s eyes light up as she shares, “The seventh book in Maya Angelou’s autobiography series.” For Alaya, the connection with Angelou’s work runs deep. “I first read her poem ‘Still I Rise’ in school, and it moved me so much that I have the words tattooed on my back with wings. She intrigues me a lot.” It’s a telling detail — revealing how literature and art leave a lasting imprint on her, both emotionally and physically.
Alaya doesn’t stop there. She dives into the backstory of how she got her first tattoo, a milestone many fans might not know came with a touch of clever negotiation. “I wanted to get a bunch of them, but I wasn’t sure my mother would approve. So what I sneakily did was I told her I wanted to get a tattoo for her for her birthday.” The plan worked — an emotional Pooja Bedi gave her blessing, opening the door to the many other tattoos Alaya now proudly sports.
Speaking of the work front, Alaya was last seen in Bade Miya Chote Miyan, followed by Srikanth, co-starring Rajkummar Rao. Since then, Alaya has not announced any of her upcoming projects.
