April 22, 2025, was another darkest day in Indian history that cost 26 innocent lives at India’s Mini Switzerland, Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam. The tragic incident shook the people of India from its core. Immediately after the Pahalgam attack, India took various necessary steps, including suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, revoked Pakistani nationals’ visas, that included the SAARC visas as well, and the closure of the Wagah-Attari border. Following the bloody Pahalgam attack, India launched a precision strike named ‘Operation Sindoor’. Now, several top Bollywood production houses raced to get the rights for their film title ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Bollywood filmmakers are in a rush to secure the title, ‘Operation Sindoor’

In response to the heinous Pahalgam attack, India carried out a precision strike, ‘Operation Sindoor’, on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Soon, after the avenging moment, several Bollywood filmmakers rushed to get the rights for the title ‘Operation Sindoor’. Already, over 31+ applications have been filed at the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA). According to India Today reports, a source shared that these kinds of races are common in the film industry when something bigger happens. Sharing the same, the source said:

“Whenever a big national event occurs, filmmakers tend to call dibs on the title. Even if a film will not be made, it’s safer to have the title registered. However, after the success of Uri, War, or Fighter, filmmakers have understood that war films continue to be a favourite genre, and hence they would want to someday work on a film on Operation Sindoor also.”

Indian Film and Television Producers Council (IFTPC) is also facing a surge similar to the IMPPA. As per Suresh Amin, the CEO of the IFTPC, the organisation began receiving title registration applications from producers on May 7, 2025, at 3 pm. The CEO shared that the applications are from the big production houses of Bollywood. Sharing the details of the application registered under the organisation, Suresh said:

“IFTPC is flooded by all the applications from producers to secure a title about Operation Sindoor. All the titles which we have got are around the mission only. We have received around 10-12 applications for the title, all relevant to the operation. The applications are from big production houses of Bollywood. The titles are for films as well as web series.”

Filmmaker, Ashoke Pandit shared why filmmakers are rushing to register the title, ‘Operation Sindoor’

Indian filmmaker, Ashoke Pandit came forward to share why he and the others raced to fill the applications. Ashoke shared that the moment something interesting happens around the globe, the filmmakers and producers take the first step to register the title, as without a title, the planning of a film cannot be done. Addressing the same, Ashoke said:

“Yes, I’ve applied to register the title ‘Operation Sindoor’. Whether a film will be made on the topic is still far-fetched, but as filmmakers and producers, we often register titles the moment something interesting happens — it’s the first and important step, because without a title, you can’t even begin planning a film. Everyone who has applied for the title has done so after the incident occurred. That doesn’t necessarily mean all of them will make a film, but registering gives them the option to explore it further.”

When it comes to the titles proposed by the production houses or filmmakers, the names included ‘Operation Sindoor’, ‘Operation Sindoor Magnum’, ‘Pahalgam: The Horrific Terror’, ‘The Pahalgam Terror’, and ‘Sindoor Operation’.
