Did Swiggy Genie suddenly disappear from your app this morning? You are not alone. For many users across Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru and Pune, the Swiggy Genie service has disappeared. There are several reports that claim that the service has been discontinued or shut, however, in a couple of posts on X, Swiggy has suggested that the company is only temporarily suspended. The company said in a post that our team is working on bringing back the service as soon as possible. The timeline for the service’s return is not clear yet.
“The Genie’s currently taking a little break from granting wishes, Suhas! But worry not, we do hear your wishes loud and clear. While there’s no concrete timeline for Genie’s return just yet, our team is working hard behind the scenes to bring it back as soon as possible. We’ll be sure to keep you posted the moment it’s back in action!” the company responded to a user’s query on X (formerly Twitter).

In another post, the company told a user that the Genie’s lamp is only cooling off for a bit. “The Genie’s lamp is just cooling off for a bit. While we are unable to provide any concrete info on the same, please sit tight, we’ll keep you posted,” @SwiggyCares responded to a user on X.
The Swiggy Genie service has rolled out across 70 cities in India so far. Genie is a hyperlocal service offered by the company, which is similar to Uber Courier, Borzo/Dunzo, and Porter. The service was launched in April 2020. The temporary unavailability of Swiggy Genie comes as the company is expanding its 10-minute delivery service called Bolt to more cities in India. The company says Swiggy Bolt is already available in 500 cities in India.
Swiggy Bolt was launched in October 2024, and the company is focusing on Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities with the service. The company recently revealed that “Bolt already powers more than 1 in every 10 Food delivery orders delivered by Swiggy”.
To be clear, Swiggy Genie was a parcel delivery service. Swiggy Bolt is a 10-minute food delivery service. And the current Swiggy Instamart is for daily items and grocery service.
