    Operation Sindoor: All you need to know as India strikes Pakistan terror bases | India News – The Times of India

    NEW DELHI: Indian Army launched strikes at terrorist infrastructure on Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people. Terming it “Operation Sindoor“, it said that the actions were “focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature.”“These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered. We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable,” the government said in a press statement. Meanwhile, Pakistan violated the ceasefire agreement by launching artillery fire in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bhimber Gali, just hours after India conducted precision strikes under ‘Operation Sindoor,’ prompting an ‘appropriate’ response from the Indian Army.“Pakistan again violates the Ceasefire Agreement by firing artillery in Bhimber Gali in the Poonch-Rajouri area. Indian Army is responding appropriately in a calibrated manner,” Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI) said in a post on X.Here’s all you need to know about ‘Operation Sindoor’:

    ‘Nine areas targeted’

    The government in a statement said that the operation targeted nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.“Altogether, nine (9) sites have been targeted,” it said in a statement.

    ‘No Pakistani military facilities targeted’

    The central government categorically said that no Pakistani military sites were targeted in the operation.“Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution,” the statement said.At a high-level meeting with senior defence officials on April 29, PM Modi granted the armed forces full operational freedom to determine the method, targets, and timing of the response to the Pahalgam terror attack. He also reaffirmed the nation’s resolve to deliver a decisive blow against terrorism.
