At the 2025 Met Gala celebrating the opening of the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibition that explored the history of Black style through the lens of the Black Dandy, the dress code was determined as Tailored for You. It was an invitation for people to experiment with tailored suiting looks—the cornerstone of the Dandy—and make it their own. For the men this was an easy enough prompt to follow, but for many women, letting go of their boho, naked dressing, or ultra-femme tendencies proved a little harder. But still, the important thing is that all our guests showed up and showed out! Below are 18 women who strayed away from the path set forth by the dress code, but still looked good doing it.
