Savannah James, wife of Met Gala 2025‘s honorary chair, LeBron James, attended the coveted red carpet event on Monday in a dramatic, custom gown by Hanifa. The outfit embraced this year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” with its fusion of traditional menswear and evening wear.

Savannah’s dress featured a burgundy pinstriped pattern throughout, a cropped jacket top with traditional lapels and oversized white French cuffs and a dramatic cutout in the midriff section. It also included a mermaid-style skirt that flared dramatically into a massive train with structured folds and pleating, as well as a burgundy necktie and a decorative silver brooch on the lapel.

Hanifa is a global luxury brand created by designer Anifa Mvuemba, who has also collaborated with Beyoncé before.

The entrepreneur was styled by her longtime collaborator Casey “Icon” Billingsley, who dressed her in a custom Alexander McQueen in the same burgundy shade over the weekend for a pre-Met Gala event.

Savannah was representing her husband, LeBron James, who, although is this year’s honorary chair at the event, couldn’t attend the Met Gala due to a recent knee injury. “Unfortunately because of my knee injury I sustained at the end of the season I won’t be able to attend the Met Gala in NY tonight as so many people have been asking and congratulating me on!” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday.

Other guests, including Teyana Taylor, Emma Chamberlain and Zuri Hall, also opted for pinstriped looks at the 2025 Met Gala.

The 2025 Met Gala, held Monday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, features the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The event highlights Black dandyism and menswear, with a “Tailored for You” dress code. Cochairs include Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour.
