Marc Jacobs’ Heaven Collaborates with Starface, Available Today

    Published on

The kings of collaboration—fashion line Heaven by Marc Jacobs and acne-positivity skincare brand Starface—have come together to create the alliance to end all alliances. In the past, Starface has tapped Hello Kitty, Sesame Street, and Glossier, and Heaven has joined forces with Anna Sui and Sofia Coppola (I’m still on the hunt for a Virgin Suicides skirt)—but this is the first fashion x beauty crossover.

“I have so much admiration for the Marc Jacobs legacy and Heaven’s cultural impact,” Julie Schott, the co-founder of Starface, says. “Over the years, Starface has shown up organically in that world, whether it was on the Heaven couch or on friends at parties or in the store. Making something together felt intuitive and spontaneous. Both Starface and Heaven are nostalgic, rebellious, and live a little outside of the mainstream while being relatable, inviting, and fun.”

For the limited-edition drop, the classic star-shaped hydrocolloid patches have been reimagined into tattoo-inspired shapes by artists Keegan Dakkar, Sean Kennedy, Rachel Lu, and David Enth. On top of revamped 5-pointed stars, there are also spiders, faux piercings, and the Heaven mascot, a two-headed teddy bear. Even “Big Yellow,” Starface’s square-shaped logo-cum-mirrored compact, a punk makeover in black-and-white.

“I have always found that Starface embodies a sense of youthfulness in the same way Heaven does,” Heaven by Marc Jacobs creative director Ava Nirui tells Vogue. Both brands are centered around individuality and self-expression and share so many parallels in terms of community and visual identity.”

When Starface launched in 2019, it immediately created waves in the acne skincare world. Celebrities like the Biebers and Anne Hathaway have sported the pimple patches out about town, signaling a major change in attitude toward spots.

“I love what the Starface brand represents and feel super connected to it,” Nirui adds. “I’m pleased we were able to come up with an idea for the patches that felt super true to the Heaven brand and incorporate the work of artists from the Marc Jacobs world.”
