While parents generally celebrate their children’s exam successes, a couple in Karnataka chose to go against the tide in this exam result season. They hosted a party to celebrate their son’s failure in the Class 10 board exams, as a way to recognise his sincere efforts.

Abhishek, a student of a private school in Bagalkot, Karnataka, scored only 200 out of 625 marks in the state board exam and failed to clear any subject. But instead of reprimanding him, his parents chose to lift his spirits.

They ordered a cake and sweets to cheer him up and encourage him to perform better in his next attempt.

His father said Abhishek had studied sincerely and taken the exams seriously, even though the results didn’t reflect his efforts. The celebration helped him overcome his disappointment, the family added.

“I will clear all the subjects in the next attempt,” said a determined Abhishek.
