In a remarkable achievement that has brought pride to his school, family, and Indian-American community, seven-year-old Vandan Patel, a first grader at Savannah Country Day School, has been accepted into Mensa International—the world’s oldest and largest high IQ society.

Admission into Mensa is reserved for individuals who score in the top 2 per cent on recognized standardized intelligence tests.

Vandan’s intellectual abilities have set him apart from an early age. He tackles subjects far beyond his grade level and displays a deep curiosity across a wide range of topics, including astronomy, scripture, and foreign languages.

With a keen interest in space exploration, Vandan dreams of becoming a NASA astronaut one day.

American Mensa recognized Vandan for his “complex curiosity,” noting that young members are its fastest-growing demographic.

The organization supports gifted youth through initiatives such as the Mensa Honor Society, scholarship opportunities, and reading programs, encouraging bright young minds to thrive.

Vandan’s mother, Rima Patel, describes him as “fun, loving, smart, and silly.” He enjoys the simple joys of childhood—playing outdoors, watching cartoons, traveling, and gaming.

Vandan also participates in Snapology STEM activities and plays tennis. Above all, he loves spending time with his two brothers.

As Vandan continues to grow and explore, his journey shows the value of encouragement, exploration, and education in unlocking a child’s full potential.
