In a mood of springtime revelry—and with the Met Gala just days away—Ferragamo creative director Maximilian Davis and Bergdorf Goodman’s Linda Fargo welcomed a chic crowd to the department store’s Fifth Avenue flagship. The occasion? An intimate cocktail fête celebrating their new collaboration: a capsule of shoes inspired by the golden age of Hollywood and reimagined for today’s red carpet.

From a perch overlooking Central Park, Fargo toasted Davis with characteristic flair: “I’ll never forget the day I saw his first show. Ferragamo’s lucky to have him—and so are we. He’s creating beautiful, memorable moments.”

The guest list was equally dazzling, with Tracee Ellis Ross, LaKeith Stanfield, Paloma Elsesser, Brenda Weischer, Chrissy Rutherford, and Vanessa Hong among those mingling over tartlets, figs, and flutes of champagne at BG Restaurant. A festive display of clementines—a Davis signature—evoked the Italian custom of offering fruit as a gesture of hospitality.

Alongside the debut of the seven-style capsule came the unveiling of a bespoke cinematic installation just floors below: a surrealist homage to the backstage chaos of classic movie sets, all staged against Ferragamo’s signature red.

“These shoe styles were taken from the archive, and we adapted and reimagined them for today,” Davis shared. “We’re also here for the Met—we’re super excited. It has a lot to do with how I started, and we’re dressing some fabulous people.”

While sunset cast a golden light across Fifth Avenue, guests were invited downstairs to explore the immersive installation—and view Davis’s sleek reinterpretations of 1940s silhouettes, made exclusively for Bergdorf Goodman.

“He’s fortunate to have the renowned Ferragamo savoir faire at his fingertips to bring his vision to life in the most exquisite ways,” Fargo added.

With two institutions steeped in legacy at the helm, the evening offered a timely reminder: history is most compelling when dressed for the present.
