Queen Latifah is responding to the news of The Equalizer’s cancellation.

CBS announced Friday that the drama series was coming to a close after five seasons. On Instagram, the Emmy and Grammy Award winner addressed the end of The Equalizer, while noting that playing the “kick-ass role” of Robyn McCall, a former CIA operative, “was everything I hoped it would be.”

“Shakim [Compere] and I at Flavor Unit are always excited to bring these kinds of roles and projects to life — and then we just hope you love them as much as we do,” she wrote in the caption of the Friday post. “The Equalizer blew past every dream we had for it, and having the opportunity to do this for five seasons honestly feels surreal.”

Ratings for the series went down after its run time shifted to a later hour on Sunday nights. The news of The Equalizer being canceled comes after fellow CBS series’ FBI: International, FBI: Most Wanted and Poppa’s House were also canceled.

Latifah praised the “amazing cast, crew, producers and writers” of the show while also thanking the fans for their support over its five-season run. “Y’all have been so loyal, so loud and so ride-or-die — and that’s exactly why we keep doing this. We can’t thank you enough. It means the world to us,” she said.

At the end of the post, Latifah seemingly teased her next project, promising fans that she’d “be back kicking a** in something new real soon.” She added, “Can’t wait to share it with you.”

Latifah served as an executive producer of The Equalizer alongside Compere, Joseph C. Wilson, Debra Martin Chase, John Davis, John Fox, Loretha Jones and Rob Hanning. The show is a co-production of Universal Television and CBS Studios.

CBS’ 2025-2026 schedule will be announced on May 7.
