The staff of the US Agency for International Development were informed overnight that the agency’s Washington headquarters will be closed today as Elon Musk announced that USAID will be shut down and President Donald Trump agreed to it. Elon Musk faced a huge backlash and was called ‘President Musk’ as he again exerted his control over the administration.
At an X Space held Sunday midnight, Elon Musk announced that his Department of Government Efficiency was in the process of shutting down the agency and he discussed the proposal in detail with Trump who gave his consent.
“Agency personnel normally assigned to work at USAID headquarters will work remote tomorrow, with the exception of personnel with essential on-site and building maintenance functions individually contacted by senior leadership,” the email sent to USAID staff said. “Further guidance will be forthcoming.”

‘No one elected Elon Musk’

Democratic senator Elizabeth Warren slammed Elon Musk and said he is not an elected person. “As Donald Trump allows Musk to access people’s personal information and shut down government funding, Republicans in Washington will also own the consequences. We must do everything in our power to push back and protect people from harm,” Warren said.
Elon Musk reacted to this allegation as he shared a social media post that claimed that by electing Trump, the Americans have elected Elon and the same goes for Tulsi Gabbard, RFk Jr and Kash Patel — who are awaiting their Senate confirmation.
“Dems keep saying “No one elected Elon Musk”. Yes we did. Elon was very visible with Trump and we elected Trump to utilize Elon in cleaning out corruption in our government. Same goes for Tulsi, RFK, and Kash. We voted for ALL of these people to do exactly what they’re doing,” Elon Musk shared this post on X amid mounting criticism.
“Only with public support can @DOGE succeed. The bad guys will do anything they can, legal or otherwise, to stop us,” Elon Musk posted.

Major drama at USAID office

On Friday night, there was a clash between DOGE representatives and USAID staff at the Ronald Regan Building as DOGE staff demanded access to every office of USAID. They were initially resisted but then they told security guards that if they were not granted entry, they would call the US Marshals Service. Eventually, they were granted access Saturday when two top security USAID officials were placed on administrative leave after they refused to comply with DOGE officials.
