US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump kicked off their second term in style, sharing their first dance as POTUS and FLOTUS at the commander-in-chief Inaugural Ball on Monday night. The event, held at the Walter E Washington Convention Centre in Washington, was a highlight of the evening’s festivities as the couple took to the dance floor before a crowd of invited guests and dignitaries.
Melania Trump wore a stunning white, strapless gown with elegant black detailing, accessorised with a black choker. The First Lady’s look was a perfect blend of grace and glamour, complementing her husband’s formal attire. The couple’s first dance was set to a contemporary rendition of “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” an iconic American anthem, marking a ceremonial and heartfelt moment in their inaugural celebration.
The event was attended by Vice President J D Vance and his wife, Usha, who joined the Trumps onstage for a quick but memorable dance. The four of them shared the spotlight before they exchanged partners with military servicemembers in a spirited moment that added an extra layer of joy to the evening.
As the night continued, President Trump and his wife danced to the upbeat “YMCA,” creating a lively atmosphere.
The evening took another ceremonial turn when President Trump, after his dance with the First Lady, took a sabre to cut into a military-themed sheet cake, an act symbolising the strength and unity of the nation. The cake-cutting ceremony was accompanied by brief remarks from the President, who expressed his gratitude and excitement for the new chapter of his presidency.
The commander-in-chief Inaugural Ball was one of three inaugural events where the President and his guests made appearances. Trump is also expected to participate in the Liberty Ball and Starlight Ball, marking a full day of celebrations for his second term in office.
