US President Donald Trump, on first day of assuming office, fired renowned chef Jose Andres from the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition, weeks after he was seen with his attempted assassin in a photograph earlier this month.
Along with Andres, Trump also fired Mark Milley from the national infrastructure advisory council, Brian Hook from the Wilson Center for Scholars, and Keisha Lance Bottoms from the president’s export council.
“Our first day in the White House is not over yet! My Presidential Personnel Office is actively in the process of identifying and removing over a thousand Presidential Appointees from the previous Administration, who are not aligned with our vision to Make America Great Again,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
“Let this serve as Official Notice of Dismissal for these 4 individuals, with many more, coming soon: Jose Andres from the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition, Mark Milley from the National Infrastructure Advisory Council, Brian Hook from the Wilson Center for Scholars, and Keisha Lance Bottoms from the President’s Export Council—YOU’RE FIRED!” he added.
Andrés was with Ryan Wesley Routh, who allegedly attempted to assassinate Trump while he was golfing at his West Palm Beach club.
Secret Service agents intercepted Routh, who was armed but had not fired. Routh fled the scene, dropping his AR-15-style rifle, but was quickly apprehended by nearby police.
