In an unexpected turn of events early Sunday morning, a luxurious yacht allegedly rented by renowned hip-hop producer Metro Boomin erupted in flames while docked outside one of Miami’s most famous strip clubs. The dramatic scene unfolded around 3 am at Booby Trap on the River, a popular adult entertainment venue, reported New York Post.
The 95-foot vessel, which had just arrived at the club, was only docked for about 30 minutes when the fire alarm sounded. Workers at the club, including director of security Michael Marhefka, quickly noticed smoke rising from the boat. “We saw smoke inside the boat, and we knew we had to act fast,” Marhefka said. Within moments, about 10 people aboard, including Metro Boomin and five crew members, were evacuated to safety.
Once the crew was safely off the yacht, the fire intensified rapidly. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was called to the scene at around 4 a.m., with more than 30 units — both on land and in water — working together to battle the blazing inferno.
The fire proved difficult to control due to the yacht’s size and fuel load, causing an overwhelming spectacle that drew a crowd of onlookers. Witnesses described the fire as massive and alarming. One unnamed bystander told NBC 6, “It was unexpected. I’ve never seen anything like this.” Another added, “It was scary, especially with the size of the fire.”
As the flames continued to spread, the yacht eventually sank into the Miami River. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue later deployed specialized equipment to mitigate any potential environmental damage from the fire, including an oil-absorbent boom to limit fuel runoff.
An investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the blaze.
Metro Boomin, known for his iconic collaborations with artists like The Weeknd, Future, and Travis Scott, has yet to comment publicly on the incident. However, the fire has sparked interest across social media, where fans and locals are still processing the shocking scene.
