A Florida pizza delivery worker has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a pregnant woman more than a dozen times over a $2 tip. Brianna Alvelo, 22, reportedly became enraged when the customer at the Riviera Motel in Kissimmee gave her only a small tip after a $33 pizza order.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Alvelo returned to the motel around 10 p.m. on Sunday with a masked accomplice, armed with a knife. The pair attacked the woman, who was at the motel celebrating a birthday with her boyfriend and 5-year-old daughter. Alvelo allegedly stabbed the victim 14 times before fleeing the scene, as per the New York Post.
The incident occurred after the victim, unable to provide exact change for the $50 bill she gave to Alvelo, ended up giving just $2. Security footage showed Alvelo arriving with her red Toyota, and returning later with her companion, who was reportedly armed with a gun. During the attack, the victim attempted to protect her daughter, but was struck in the back by the intruders. In a desperate bid, she threw her daughter onto the bed and tried to call for help, only for Alvelo to smash her phone.
Following the attack, the victim was rushed to a local hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. It was later revealed that she was pregnant. Police quickly located Alvelo, who was arrested and charged with attempted murder, home invasion, assault, and kidnapping. However, her accomplice remains at large.
Alvelo, who worked for Marco’s Pizza, was denied bond and booked into Osceola County Jail. The owners of the pizza chain issued an apology, expressing their sadness over the tragic incident. They assured the public that they are cooperating fully with the authorities as the investigation continues.
“The safety and well-being of customers and team members are always our top priority,” the company said in a statement.
