Kyle Rittenhouse who gained national attention after shooting dead two men and injuring a third at a Black Lives Matter rally in Wisconsin in 2020 has opened up about Luigi Mangione and the constant comparison of Mangione with him. Rittenhouse was acquitted of all charges in 2021 and his act was seen as self-defence. During the trial, Rittenhouse said he, as a 17-year-old former police youth cadet, went to Kenosha to protect property from rioters but then he came under attack and opened fire.
“Luigi Mangione shot and killed a man in cold blood and tried to get away with it. I, on the other hand, defended myself after being chased down and violently attacked. Luigi and I aren’t even remotely similar. If you’re comparing my case to his, you have some serious problems,” Rittenhouse wrote.

Luigi Mangione, Kyle Rittenhouse, Daniel Penny are all on the same pedestal — on the list of the mush-lusted young killers, with Rittenhouse and Penny acquitted and Mangione receiving all the admiration behind the bar. Daniel Penny even joined President-elect Donald Trump at an Army-Navy match after his acquittal. Penny merchandise has already hit the sales racks.
When Rittenhouse was acquitted in 2021, he was offered internships by then-Congressman Matt Gaetz and Madison Cawthorn and was invited to meet Trump.
Luigi Mangione is walking the same path of glory as his merchandise is already there in the market and many prominent voices have supported his killing of Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare. An Emerson poll has revealed that 41 per cent of young Americans believe that Luigi Mangione’s action is acceptable. The same poll revealed that 22 per cent of Democrats said they supported Mangione’s actions while only 2 per cent of Republicans supported Mangione.
Mangione does not have a self-defense alibi like Rittenhouse and Daniel Penny had. Mangione was not a customer of UnitedHealthcare and investigations so far revealed no personal connection between him and his target Brian Thompson. He chose Brian Thompson as UHC is a large health insurance company and checked all the boxes that he targeted.
