DHAKA: Bangladesh interim government chief adviser Muhammad Yunus vowed Sunday to hold the “desired” national elections after implementing some essential reforms and forming the election commission (EC). While he refrained from specifying a date for the polls, Yunus hinted that the country’s “election train” has already started its journey. “Some reforms can be made during the preparations for the elections, and for this reason, the pollssss may be delayed by a few months,” he added.
Indo-Bangla relations:
Pranay Verma, the high commissioner to Bangladesh, reaffirmed India’s commitment to fostering a stable, positive, and constructive partnership with Bangladesh. Speaking at the Bay of Bengal Conversation organised by Centre for Governance Studies in Dhaka, he highlighted advancements in trade, transport, energy connectivity, and people-to-people engagements as markers of the enduring relationship between the two neighbours.
