6.1 magnitude earthquake strikes Eastern Turkey, reports EMSC – Times of India

A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck eastern Turkey on Wednesday, according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). The quake occurred at a depth of 9 km below the surface, the EMSC reported.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
The last major earthquake to hit Turkey was in February last year, during the Turkey-Syria earthquake.Officials and medics reported that 9,057 people died in Turkey and 2,992 in Syria from the 7.8-magnitude tremor, bringing the total death toll to 12,049. Over 250 Indian personnel from the NDRF and Army were engaged in rescue and relief operations in Turkey and Syria under ‘Operation Dost’.
