Dhaka: Students of Dhaka University and personnel of Bangladesh Ansar, a paramilitary auxiliary force, clashed near the Secretariat here on Sunday night, leaving some people injured, reports AKM Moinuddin. The clash began after 9 pm when Ansar personnel blocked off the Secretariat.
Adviser to the home ministry had held a meeting with seven of their representatives.Students claimed Ansar members had prevented the home adviser and other officials from leaving the secretariat. Ansar personnel have refused to end their protest despite interim govt’s assurance that it would abolish the force’s “rest tradition” under which Ansars who have worked three consecutive years are sent on six months’ compulsory leave without pay.
