In a pre-dawn operation on Sunday, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) executed a series of precision strikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, thwarting what Israeli officials described as a significant planned attack. The military campaign, which began at 5 am local time, was supported by mid-air refueling to ensure the effectiveness of the operation. The strikes aimed to neutralize Hezbollah’s infrastructure along Israel’s northern border.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released footage of the strikes, asserting that the operation was crucial in neutralizing Hezbollah’s threat. “Our operation in Lebanon targeted the terrorist infrastructure Hezbollah planned to use against us, protecting Israeli families and homes,” the IDF said.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the ongoing situation in a cabinet meeting, emphasizing that the military action was far from concluded. “We are striking Hezbollah with surprising, crushing blows,” Netanyahu declared. “This is another step towards changing the situation in the north and safely returning our residents to their homes. And, I repeat, this is not the final word.”

Netanyahu highlighted the success of the operation, noting that thousands of short-range rockets intended to target civilians and military forces in Israel’s Galilee region had been destroyed. He also confirmed the interception of Hezbollah drones aimed at a strategic target in central Israel, reportedly the Mossad headquarters.
Over 100 Israeli warplanes participated in the assault, targeting Hezbollah missile launchers across southern Lebanon. The strikes were based on “precise intelligence” indicating an imminent missile barrage and drone attacks on key intelligence centers by Hezbollah.
In response, Hezbollah fired over 300 projectiles into Israel, though damage was minimal. One Israeli soldier was reported killed by falling debris, while three fatalities occurred in Lebanon.
Following the strikes, Israel declared a 48-hour state of emergency and temporarily closed its main airport, leading to flight cancellations. Diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the broader conflict continued, with negotiations in Cairo focused on establishing a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. However, the talks faced difficulties as Hamas accused Israel of prolonging the negotiations by setting new conditions.
