Over 1,300 flights cancelled across US as Hurricane Beryl intensifies – Times of India

Over 1,300 flights were cancelled on Monday across the United States as Hurricane Beryl intensified and made landfall in Texas.
1,331 flights were cancelled and 505 flights delayed as of 6:06 am ET (3:36 pm IST) according to a flight tracking website FlightAware.
United Airlines delayed 406 flights, which was the highest of the day followed by 268 Southwest Airlines flights.
Both the airlines United and Southwest issued travel advisories citing Hurricane Beryl’s impact on various airports including Austin, Corpus Christi, Harlingen and Houston among others in the region.
Beryl which led to significant destruction in the Caribbean, resulting in at least 11 deaths, has now become a Category 1 hurricane.
The US National Hurricane Center stated it could strengthen to a Category 2 by the time it makes landfall on Monday.
The largest ports in Texas also closed operations and vessel traffic on Sunday after Beryl intensified.
The Federal Aviation Administration on Friday had warned of thunderstorms impacting travel across the country.
