Kevin Roberts, president of the right-wing think tank The Heritage Foundation, said that the recent Supreme Court decision on Presidential immunity could support a second American revolution, as outlined in the foundation’s Project 2025 plan.
According to a report in Newsweek, Roberts explained on Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast, how the ruling might facilitate the implementation of conservative policies if Donald Trump wins the presidency in November and adopts Project 2025.
According to Roberts, the Supreme Court’s decision on Monday, which states that presidents are immune from prosecution for “official acts,” will allow them to introduce policies without having to “triple guess, every decision they’re making in their official capacity.”
“In spite of all this nonsense from the left, we are going to win. We’re in the process of taking this country back,” he added.
Project 2025’s vision of a bloodless revolution involves dismantling what Roberts calls “the deep state” by removing civil service employment protections for federal employees with policy-related job titles. This would make it easier to fire and replace civil servants with Republican loyalists, Newsweek reported.
“In spite of all this nonsense from the left, we are going to win. We’re in the process of taking this country back,” Roberts said.
“We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless, if the left allows it to be,” he added.
The project also proposes implementing several right-wing policies, such as eliminating the Department of Education, reducing the scope of social welfare programs, favoring the fossil fuel industry, limiting access to abortion pills, and removing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) hiring policies from federal programs.
Notably, Project 2025 aims to consolidate executive power by reducing the independence of federal agencies and increasing presidential control over policy implementation, which aligns with the recent Supreme Court ruling. However, the proposals have faced criticism from experts like Professor Erwin Chemerinsky, who argues that Project 2025 is “inconsistent with the structure and goals of the Constitution.”
Roberts appeared on the War Room podcast during its first broadcast without host Steve Bannon, who is serving a four-month sentence for defying a congressional subpoena.
Bannon is a strong supporter of Project 2025 and believes that the Make America Great Again movement will govern the United States for 50 years. During the episode, Roberts encouraged listeners, stating, “We’re in the process of taking this country back. No one in the audience should be despairing.”
