NEW DELHI: US President Joe Biden on Tuesday refuted claims that Israel‘s military campaign in Gaza constitutes genocide while supporting the important US ally in the face of multiple international legal challenges.
Addressing a Jewish American Heritage Month event at the White House on a case brought before the International Court of Justice, the UN’s principal judicial body situated in The Hague, which asserts that Israel’s actions amount to genocide, Biden said, “What’s happening is not genocide, we reject that.”
Furthermore, the President reaffirmed his criticism of a request made on Monday by the prosecutor at the International Criminal Court, a distinct court, seeking the issuance of an arrest warrant targeting Israeli leadership.
