NEW DELHI: The governor of Ukraine‘s Mykolaiv region reported significant damage to a hotel in the southern city of Mykolaiv due to a Russian drone attack. According to Russia’s RIA news agency, the hotel allegedly accommodated English-speaking mercenaries engaged in combat in Ukraine.
“The enemy attacked the city with an unmanned aerial vehicle of the ‘Shahed-131/136‘ type,” Mykolaiv’s governor, Vitaly Kim, said on the Telegram messaging app.
“As a result, a hotel building was heavily damaged, a fire broke out, which was quickly extinguished … There are no casualties,” he said.
According to Kim and Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, the Russian attack resulted in damage to windows at a nearby hotel, and infrastructure generating heat was also affected.
Meanwhile, Russia’s RIA state news agency, citing Russian underground fighters in the region, claimed that Russian forces targeted a shipbuilding plant and a hotel in Mykolaiv where English-speaking mercenaries engaged in combat in Ukraine were lodged.
Ukraine’s Air Force on Sunday announced on its Telegram account that its forces had destroyed a drone launched by Russia over Mykolaiv, although no specific details were provided.
Additionally, the air force reported the destruction of four other Russian-launched drones over various regions, including the capital Kyiv, central Vinnytsia and Kirovohrad, and western Khmelnytskyi.
