NEW DELHI: Four people lost their lives and several others sustained injuries on Sunday in a Hungarian motorsport rally, as a driver skidded off the road and collided with spectators, as per officials.
The incident took place in the course of the two-day Esztergom Nyerges Rally in northern Hungary, between the towns of Labatlan and Bajot in the northern Komarom Esztergom county, said police.
According to the police statement, the cause of the vehicle veering off the road, which left at least four people dead and seven injured, is yet to be determined, and an investigation is underway.
Emergency services, several ambulances and rescue helicopters dispatched at the scene, and the rally was immediately halted.
