NEW DELHI: Pakistan‘s security forces have killed ten terrorists in separate operations in the North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to Dawn, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the successful operations conducted over two days.
The ISPR revealed that the first operation, an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted on Friday, resulted in the elimination of four terrorists.Subsequently, in a follow-up operation, four more terrorists were neutralized by security forces.
In a separate incident, five terrorists attempting to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border were identified by security forces. Two of them, identified as Hazrat Umer and Rehman Niaz, were killed in an exchange of fire, while three others sustained injuries.
“After an intense fire exchange, two terrorists–Hazrat Umer and Rehman Niaz–were also sent to hell, while three other terrorists got injured,” it added.
The ISPR reiterated Pakistan’s calls for effective border management by the interim Afghan government, stressing the need to prevent the use of Afghan soil by terrorists against Pakistan.
“The interim Afghan government is expected to fulfil its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for perpetrating acts of terrorism against Pakistan,” the release said. “The security forces of Pakistan are determined and remain committed to securing its borders and wiping out the menace of terrorism from the country,” it added.
According to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies, Pakistan witnessed a record-high of violence-related fatalities in 2023, with over 90% of the incidents occurring in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The report documented 789 terror attacks and counter-terror operations, resulting in 1,524 fatalities and 1,463 injuries.
