Pakistan’s Punjab province gets first Sikh minister – Times of India

Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Ramesh Singh Arora on Wednesday became the first Sikh to be sworn in as a minister in Pakistan’s Punjab province since Partition.
Arora, a resident of Nankana Sahib, birthplace of first Sikh master Guru Nanak Dev, and a member of provincial assembly on PML-N ticket, was among 17 ministers who took oath of office in the Maryam Nawaz-led cabinet.The three-time MPA told TOI after taking oath that he might be allocated human rights and minority affairs portfolio. He said his primary focus as a minister would be to safeguard the rights of minorities in Pakistan, enabling them to lead dignified lives.
