NEW DELHI: Four individuals lost their lives in a tragic incident described by Los Angeles police as a murder-suicide in the Granada Hills area on Saturday.
Responding to a shooting report around 7 p.m. officers discovered four deceased at the 11600 block of Lerdo Avenue. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the investigation revealed the nature of the incident to be a murder-suicide.
After receiving the call, there was no answer when the officers arrived and attempted to make contact by knocking on the door, said the police.
After gaining entry forcibly into the house, the police personnel discovered three victims guided by a survivor of the shooting. The deceased included a male in his late 40s and two females, one in her late 40s and another approximately 80 years old, all succumbing to gunshot wounds, as stated by the police.
In a separate part of the house, officers found an elderly man in his late 80s who had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities believe he was responsible for shooting the others, police said.
LAPD Capt. Kelly Muniz said during a press briefing, “The witness was inside and fortunately was not harmed during the incident and was able to barricade themselves and call the police.”
The identities of the victims and any potential motive were not disclosed yet.
