With snow and cold gripping parts of the country, bettors can look toward brighter days ahead.
MLB‘s Opening Day is 75 days away, and odds are on the move for the 2024 World Series futures.
The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves remain the betting favorites to win the World Series, and their odds have lowered since the calendar flipped to 2024.

The Dodgers, which signed free agent Shohei Ohtani to the largest contract in North American sports history, saw their odds move to +350 from +380.
The Dodgers didn’t stop with Ohtani, however, as they also traded for right-hander Tyler Glasnow and signed Japanese ace pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. When Ohtani decided to wear Dodger Blue, their odds of winning it all fell to +550.
When L.A. acquired Glasnow, the title odds dropped even further to +460 — then to +380 when Yamamoto joined the team.
Atalanta’s odds went to +550 from +650 after they traded for seven-time All-Star pitcher Chris Sale at the end of December.

FOX Sports MLB Analyst Ben Verlander listed Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez and Clayton Kershaw, who won three Cy Young Awards with the Dodgers, as comparisons for Yamamoto.
“Like Pedro at his peak, Yamamoto’s fastball is going to sit in the 95-99 mph range with really good movement and rising ability,” said Verlander, host of “Flippin’ Bats”. “That type of fastball succeeds at all levels of baseball.
“Then there is Yamamoto’s unbelievable curveball. Here’s another comparison, and one that Dodgers fans will love: His curveball reminds me of a right-handed Clayton Kershaw. It’s one of the prettiest curveballs you’ll see. Just as Kershaw has for years, Yamamoto relies heavily on a looping curve, as demonstrated in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. Also like Kershaw, Yamamoto is unstoppable when that pitch is working.”
When analyzing the past, an early long-shot wager can pay off nicely when it comes to MLB title futures — the Rangers were +4500 entering last season.
The Diamondbacks, which fell three wins short of the title, were +12500 entering last season.
Including the Rangers, six of the past seven champions have had preseason odds of +1000 or longer (the 2020 Dodgers at +385 are the exception).
Preseason long-shot bettors had their golden era from 2010-15 when teams with +2000 odds or longer hoisted the trophy:

2014: Giants (+2500)
2013: Red Sox (+2800)
2012: Giants (+2000)
2011: Cardinals (+2500)
2010: Giants (+2500)
The teams with the shortest preseason odds to win it all since 1985 were the Yankees in 1999 (+200) and 2000 (+250).
The longest shots to win the Fall Classic since 1985 were the 1991 Twins (+8000), 2003 Marlins (+7500), 1987 Twins (+5000) and 2002 Angels (+4000).
