An earthquake of magnitude of 4.4 occurred at 09.40. 12 IST shocked Afghanistan on January 12, 2024. The earthquake’s epicenter was located at a latitude of 36.60 and a longitude of 71.10, with a depth of 180 kilometers, according to National Center for Seismology.
This earthquake follows a 6.1 magnitude having epicentre in the Hindu Kush region hit the nation at 2.50 pm on January 11; tremors of which were also felt in North India.There were immediate reports of damage or casualties.
Afghanistan has been rattled twice by quakes of magnitude 6 and above since October last year.
Earthquake tremors of 6.0 magnitude were also felt in Pakistan. No damages were reported in this area either.
