NEW DELHI: US Vice President Kamala Harris’ plane had to change its course and land at a different airport due to bad weather on Tuesday night. She was returning from a visit to Georgia when the aircraft, Air Force 2, was encountered stormy conditions.
According to Kirsten Allen, the press secretary, the plane was diverted from Joint Base Andrews to Dulles International Airport because of the inclement weather.
The plane experienced wind shear, which is a sudden change in wind direction or speed, caused by a powerful storm bringing strong winds and rain to Washington. There were no injuries reported during this incident.
Wind shear can be dangerous during takeoff and landing, which is why the decision was made to divert the plane for the safety of everyone on board. The Vice President and her team were able to land safely at Dulles International Airport.
