Catherine Zeta-Jones allowed her shoes to lead the way for an appearance on “Good Morning America” that aired on Tuesday. The actress is amid the press tour for the second season of “Wednesday,” and she broke away from her character Morticia Addams’ usual all-black wardrobe with a pair of Casadei‘s Superblade pumps in a bright red shade.

For the fall 2023 season, Cesare Casadei expanded his Blade shoe family — Casadei’s most popular style, which is more than 10 years old — by presenting the Superblade. These patent leather pumps feature a more elongated and pointed silhouette, like a freshly sharpened pencil, making the model appear more futuristic in its boldness and proportions. The hardened steel stiletto heel lends strength and character to the style.

The slightly sculpted heel has become a signature detail for the brand, and measures 100mm on the Superblade. The steel mirror heel reflected Zeta-Jones’ black ensemble, giving the illusion that the heel was black in some instances. The shoes are currently available in black patent leather on the Casadei website for $875.
The actress paired the pumps with a look from the Yanina Couture spring 2023 collection. The “Chicago” star opted for a black structured blazer and pencil skirt set with a poppy pattern, the flower that inspired designer Yulia Yanina’s collection. The flower motif is also a slight nod to Morticia, who has displayed a love for gardening and flowers, specifically red roses, since the original “The Addams Family” show.

The addition of a pop of red into her ensemble is also rich in symbolism since a teaser trailer for the upcoming season, which arrives on Netflix on Wednesday, shows Morticia adding a red layer to her usual all-black ensembles.
While the reason for the wardrobe change on the show has yet to be revealed, stylist Kelly Johnson followed the costume designer’s lead, adding the red pumps and florals for Zeta-Jones’ “Good Morning America” appearance. Both Zeta-Jones and her on-screen daughter Jenna Ortega have been intentional with their styling choices for the press tours for both seasons of the hit Netflix show.
