Until Dawn is the latest release in the Hollywood genre on Netflix, which was released back in April 2025, but the movie is in headlines after it found a place in Netflix’s Top 10 global list after keeping viewers awake at night due to its twisted ending. Until Dawn is based on the story of ‘Clover’ and her group of friends who go into the cursed Glore Valley to search for ‘Clover’s missing sister, ‘Melanie’. But the mission that began as a simple mystery quickly turns into a nightmare, as they all get trapped in a time loop where death is inevitable and repeatable. There are masked killers, witches, and monstrous Wendigos haunting them by making them relive their death time and again. Towards the end, ‘Clover’, who is searching for her sister, enters a tunnel system where she meets a twisted, monstrous version of ‘Melanie’ as the valley’s dark curse has transformed her.
‘Clover’ takes a heartbreaking decision to end Melanie’s suffering and kills her while kills hee while promising that she will escape the nightmare for them both, beginning the cinematic finale. ‘Clover’ later finds ‘Megan’, one of the surviving friends, locked in a cage with a chained Wendigo. When ‘Clover’ meets ‘Dr. Hill finally explains that all the dreading things she saw at Glore Valley are manifestations of her trauma. He tries to make her believe it is a psychological trap and not a physical one. But ‘Clover’ turns the tables and secretly poisons his coffee with tainted water. It soon led to the doctor’s death, giving a chance for ‘Meghan’s escape. When all the remaining survivors crawl to the surface, where they are greeted by the rising sun, which seems like a happy ending until the last scene.
What does the last scene in Until Dawn mean?
In the final scene of Until Dawn, fans got to see the most unexpected twist. After ‘Clover’ and her friends escape in a jeep, the screen goes back to ‘Dr. Hill’s office, where security monitors flicker to life again. But now it shows a remote snowy cabin instead of the visitor centre. A black van goes there and ‘Dr. Hill’s heard whistling offscreen. On the other hand, there is a file labelled ‘Joshua Washington’ on his table that links the film to the original video game. It reveals that this film is a prequel to the Until Dawn game and highlights that the nightmare is far from over because another set of teens is about to enter the same deadly time loop.
