Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former Achampet MLA Dr. Guvvala Balaraju has formally resigned from the party and relinquished all associated responsibilities.

In a letter addressed to BRS founder and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), Dr. Balaraju announced his resignation, effective August 2, 2025. The letter, described as heartfelt and reflective, highlighted the emotional weight of his decision.

“This decision has not come easy. It deeply pains me to step away, more so during a time when unity and support are most needed,” Dr. Balaraju wrote.

A two-time MLA and until recently the BRS Nagarkurnool district president, Dr. Balaraju highlighted his nearly two-decade-long political journey under KCR’s leadership. He expressed gratitude for the opportunities provided to him and acknowledged the role the party played in shaping his public identity.

“Every moment in this journey has been meaningful only because of your faith in me,” he noted in the letter.

Reaffirming his commitment to social justice, Dr. Balaraju stated that his life’s mission remains the upliftment of the underprivileged and the empowerment of marginalised communities. “That mission continues to live in my heart, and I will keep striving for it, in whatever capacity I can,” he wrote.

Importantly, Dr. Balaraju clarified that his departure is not driven by grievances. “I leave with no bitterness, no complaints, only gratitude and respect,” he stated, thanking the BRS for the dignity and platform it provided him throughout his career.

He concluded the letter with “utmost humility and reverence.”

Dr. Balaraju’s resignation is being seen as a major setback for the BRS in the Nagarkurnool region and could signal deeper undercurrents within the party. His exit also comes at a time when Telangana’s political landscape is undergoing rapid change, with several senior leaders reassessing their affiliations in the lead-up to upcoming elections.
