NEW DELHI: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday announced a major policy change aimed at prioritising residents of the state in future teacher recruitments. The move is part of a broader effort to strengthen the state’s education system, the Bihar CM said.“Since forming the government in November 2005, we have been consistently working to improve the education system. To strengthen the education system, a large number of teachers have been appointed,” Nitish said in a post on X.He added that the Education Department had been instructed to amend the relevant rules to give preference to Bihar residents in teacher appointments. “This will be implemented from TRE-4 onwards. TRE-4 will be conducted in the year 2025, and TRE-5 will be conducted in the year 2026,” he wrote.Nitish also confirmed that the STET exam would be held before TRE-5.The announcement comes less than a month after the state began implementing a scheme providing 125 units of free electricity to around 1.86 crore consumers under the Mukhya Mantri Vidyut Upbhokta Sahayta Yojana.
