Pakistan wrapped up a 2-1 T20I series win over the West Indies with a composed 13-run victory at Lauderhill on Monday, August 4. A strong opening stand from Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan set the tone, before Pakistan’s bowlers held their nerve in the closing stages.

Batting first, Pakistan got off to a flying start with Ayub and Farhan putting together a dominant 138-run partnership that lasted until the 17th over. The pair combined aggression with smart shot selection, frustrating the West Indies bowlers who failed to make early inroads. Alzarri Joseph eventually dismissed Farhan, but Pakistan continued to pile on the runs in the final overs, finishing with a challenging total of 190.

In response, the West Indies made a promising start. Openers Jewel Andrew and Alick Athanaze came out with intent, looking to make the most of the powerplay. However, Haris Rauf’s raw pace proved too much for Andrew, who found Hasan Ali at long-on with a mistimed shot.

Athanaze continued the counterattack but found little support from his captain, Shai Hope, who struggled to keep up with the required run rate. Hope’s struggle ended when Mohammad Nawaz caught him in the deep by Ayub.

Sherfane Rutherford then took charge, showcasing the form he displayed in the IPL 2025 season. Alongside Athanaze, he kept the scoreboard ticking. Both batters reached their fifties, but Pakistan struck back just in time. Ayub, now with the ball, deceived Athanaze with a flighted delivery, drawing an edge that was safely taken at short third-man.

The West Indies faltered in the middle overs. Roston Chase, unable to rotate strike or find boundaries, retired himself out. The pressure mounted further as left-arm wrist-spinner Sufiyan Muqeem removed Jason Holder, further denting the chase.

Although Gudakesh Motie tried to inject some life into the innings with a few boundaries, Romario Shepherd had an off-day, leaving the hosts short of the target.

With this result, Pakistan continued their dominance over the West Indies in the T20I series, claiming a seventh successive series win between the two sides. The visitors’ strong opening partnership and disciplined bowling once again proved the difference on a day when West Indies were left to rue missed chances and a middle-order collapse.
