The MAGA civil war is far from being doused as the cinders can be easily spotted in random online conversations as Elon Musk recently took a dig at Steve Bannon and said he is a great talker but not a great doer. “Bannon is a great talker, but not a great doer, What did he get done this week? Nothing,” Elon Musk wrote.
Elon Musk and Steve Bannon’s feud has a recent history with Bannon claiming that he would oust Elo Musk from Donald Trump’s inner circle as the two warred over H-1B. While Elon Musk is in favor of US companies hiring foreign talents, Steve Bannon stands for America First and their disagreement never got resolved with Bannon calling Elon Musk a toddler.
Now as Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency hogged the limelight last week making their moves against federal departments, Bannon — in his interview with the New York Times — said that the defense budget is an obscenity and must be cut hinting that DOGE should focus in that.
“Steve Bannon is just mad that Elon is getting all the attention for doing a damn good job with USAID and other agencies being hit by DOGE auditors. Let Hegseth manage the DOD,” Elon Musk’s favorite X account Ian Miles Cheong posted in reference to Steve Bannon’s statement. Elon Musk’s dig that Steve Bannon is just a talker and not a doer came as a response to that.
Steve Bannon, however, has softened his stance on Elon Musk and in the NYT interview, Bannon said Elon Musk is a genius. “Since Edison, he is maybe our greatest applied engineer. He is a genius at that level,” Bannon said.
“He is the most prominent of that crowd that has warned against artificial intelligence and artificial general intelligence. It’s one of the reasons he and Sam Altman at OpenAI have had so many big fights besides the profitability,” Steve Bannon said.
