Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson have lit up the red carpet — as their on-screen chemistry has seemingly ignited into real romance.
But is it just a ‘fauxmance’ to promote the couple’s new movie, “The Naked Gun”?
Not quite. Friends say that Anderson is having a well-deserved “second act” after having seen her turbulent love life overshadow her career.
“It’s very sincere how they feel,” a well-placed source told Page Six of the couple, “That is the truth.”
“They’re not going to show up on the red carpet and be adorable just to be fake, that’s not either of them.”
We’re told there was a “rekindling” of sorts after they first met while filming the remake of the 1988 comedy classic, which starred Leslie Nielsen and Priscilla Presley, in Atlanta, Georgia, last summer.
There were months where they weren’t in touch and didn’t see each other, sources said.
An industry insider who knows them both added, “This is happening in real time, here and now, so I don’t know what things look like moving forward.”
Irishman Neeson, 73, had sworn off dating, while five-times married Anderson has romanced a string of bad boys, including rocker Tommy Lee to Kid Rock.
But over the past few years, she’s reinvented herself as an earth mother of sorts, swearing off make-up and penning a cookbook, while revitalizing her career. Indeed, earlier this year, she scored a Golden Globes nomination for “The Last Showgirl”.
And this appears to tie in with the men she has been linked with, including WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
The source said Neeson is much better for Anderson. “They make for a beautiful couple…Liam is a gentleman, he’s warm and present, he’s a very lovely man.”
The stars have certainly proved they have the hots for each other during a string of recent promo events, including pretending to make out on the ‘Today’ show this week. An onlooker told us, “They definitely came to play – they have so much chemistry.”
Anderson lives in Canada and is about to shoot Sally Potter’s new movie, ‘Alma’, alongside Dakota Fanning in London, while Neeson lives mainly in upstate New York.
In another telling moment, they posed at the New York premiere alongside Anderson’s boys Dylan Lee, 29, and Brandon Lee, 27, and Micheál Richardson, 30, and Daniel Neeson, 28, Neeson’s sons with his late wife, Natasha Richardson.
Neeson, 73, gave the first clue about his feelings for Anderson, 58, last October when he declared that he was “madly in love” with his costar.
“She’s just terrific to work with,” Neeson told People magazine, “I can’t compliment her enough. No huge ego. She’s funny and so easy to work with. She’s going to be terrific in the film.”
As for Anderson, she told Entertainment Weekly, “our chemistry was clear from the start.”
“I think I have a friend forever in Liam… and we definitely have a connection that is very sincere, very loving, and he’s a good guy,” she added.
Anderson became a ’90s icon in her skimpy red swimsuit in ‘Baywatch’.’ Then, she was known for dating hot guys, including surfer Kelly Slater.
The blonde’s first, tempestuous marriage came at the peak of her fame, when she wed Mötley Crüe drummer Lee. The union lasted from 1995-1998, during which time their sex tape was infamously stolen and leaked to the world.
Nearly three decades later, Anderson was left furious when the scandal was turned into Hulu drama “Pam & Tommy” in February 2022, blasting the producers as “assholes”.
“Salt on the wound…You still owe me a public apology,” she told Variety.
She was then married to Kid Rock from 2006-2007, before wedding poker player Rick Salomon twice; between 2007-2008 and 2014-2015.
She also had a disastrous relationship with French soccer star Adil Rami, later accusing him of “physical and emotional torture” in a scathing Instagram post in June 2019. She also claimed he had cheated on her with the mother of his kids.
The star was last married to a regular Joe – her builder and bodyguard, Dan Hayhurst, from 2020–2022, whom she called a “real man”.
“Pamela has been through the ringer,” said an industry insider who has worked with Anderson, calling her “very forthright.”
“There is absolutely a difference in how men and women are treated in Hollywood,” said the insider.
“This is a second act…Pamela definitely knows where she’s going and understands timing.”
Indeed, in her 2023 hit Netflix documentary, “Pamela, a Love Story,” produced by her son Brandon, and her memoir, “Love, Pamela” released that same year, she revealed her struggles began even before she landed in Hollywood.
In her book, she detailed three harrowing incidents of sexual abuse, all before the age of 18.
A female babysitter repeatedly molested her as a child.
A 25-year-old man raped her when she was 12. And a high school boyfriend and a group of his friends sexually assaulted her.
“Predators look for somebody to do things to that are so humiliating you’d be embarrassed to tell somebody,” she told Variety, “Those kinds of things really color the rest of your life. You block things out or you’re gonna deal with it later — and I’m dealing with it now.”
Lee also infamously served six months in jail for kicking Anderson as she held their 7-week-old son, Dylan, which was the incident that prompted her to file for divorce.
Her other loves include Hollywood hairdresser-turned-producer Jon Peters, whom she originally met at the Playboy Mansion when she was fresh off the bus from Canada.
Although there were rumors they were married for 12 days back in 2020, they never had a legally binding ceremony and Anderson later stressed, “I never was married to Jon Peters.”
Then there was a bizarre flirtation with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Anderson visited him on multiple occasions at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, where he sought refuge for seven years between 2012 and 2019 to avoid extradition to the US for charges under the Espionage Act.
“It was romantic because it was so inspirational,” she told Variety. “He’s so passionate about life and about everything. There’s just nothing that he says that isn’t fascinating. So there was definitely a connection. We would just talk through the night and drink mezcal and laugh and tell stories.”
Assange later went to prison in the UK before cutting a deal with prosecutors in 2024, allowing him to go free.
For the past few years, Anderson has been living back in her tiny hometown of Ladysmith on Vancouver Island in Canada, on the estate she bought from her grandparents.
She no longer wears make-up, even on the red carpet, saying that she stopped when her best friend and make-up artist Alexis Vogel — the woman who was responsible for creating her bombshell image — died from breast cancer in 2019.
“She is incredibly healthy,” said a friend, “And even so, for a woman to be beautiful takes a lot of work.”
She won plaudits for her role in “The Last Showgirl,” as the insider who has worked with her said, “She was a real revelation … you believed the sadness and the melancholy and broken dreams, it was a really beautiful performance.”
Neeson, meanwhile, has only had one serious relationship since the death of Richardson aged 45 after a shocking ski accident in March 2009. He dated public relations executive Freya St. Johnston for two years, from 2010 to 2012.
Asked if he dates, he told People in October, “No, in a word…I’m past all that.” Neeson’s previous loves include Dame Helen Mirren and Brooke Shields, and former supermodel Janice Dickinson, who claimed he had “the biggest penis of any man alive.”
However, Andy Cohen is a fan of Neeson and Anderson’s budding relationship.
“Natasha was a dear friend of mine … I was telling [Neeson] at the premiere party, I go, ‘Liam, she is an independent woman just like Tash was. She loves to cook. She has her own thing going on. She has two boys. I mean, this just works,” Cohen said during his SiriusXM show Andy Cohen Live on Wednesday.
“The world has caught up with her, that’s what’s really happened,” her friend added.
