An allegedly drunk tenant couple and their friend in Noida’s society in sector 100 allegedly thrashed a facility management (FM) staff member following a dispute over an electricity outage. The assault occurred around 3 am on July 25.
The tenants, Sonam Khurana and Sachith Sudarshan, along with their friend, Gaurav, allegedly attacked Aviral, the staff member on night duty, after their flat experienced a power cut.
Reportedly, the couple contacted the facility management office to report the outage. Aviral, after checking the system, informed them that the power disconnection was not initiated by society, but was due to a pending electricity bill of approximately Rs 7,000.
After a prolonged argument, Aviral reportedly agreed to switch the power back on. However, the couple, angry and allegedly in an inebriated state, began threatening him, asking, “How dare he even think of shutting down the power supply in the night at 3 am?”
Soon after, in a fit of rage, the couple, accompanied by their friend, went to the facility management office and physically assaulted Aviral. CCTV footage shows the female resident hurling obscenities and assaulting the staff member.
The assaulted staff member has since filed a police complaint against the three individuals.
In response to the serious misconduct, the landlord has been instructed to ensure that the tenants vacate the premises within 15 days from the incident.
Police investigations into the matter are currently underway.
