A Delhi Police constable overpowered three armed thieves after a long chase and despite being attacked by one of the gang members. The constable, Kartar Singh, was on patrolling duty in Hauz Khas when he noticed the three people roaming around suspiciously.
Kartar asked the three men to stop, following which they began to run. He then decided to chase them on his own. In an attempt to get away, one of the three thieves hit the constable on his head with a rod. Fortunately, the helmet on Kartar’s head helped him avoid any serious injuries.
When the three continued attempting to flee, the constable shot his gun in the air to give them a warning. When the warning shot failed to halt the three, he shot one of the accused in his leg.
The injured person was hospitalised by the police and will be arrested upon his recovery. Meanwhile, the other two thieves were arrested by the Delhi Police.
According to the police, all the three individuals were members of a robbery gang that broke into people’s houses and robbed them.
Kartar is posted at Malviya Nagar Police Station.
