Sunita Ahuja, wife of veteran Bollywood actor, Govinda, has broken her silence on the ongoing buzz surrounding possible extramarital affairs and their divorce. The rumour mills have been going on for quite a while now, ever since reports of them living separately surfaced on the internet. Even though the couple never confirmed the buzz, Sunita had previously hinted at it all being just rumours. In a recent heartfelt conversation, she addressed the speculations, clearing the air on the affair angle.

On Mother’s Day 2025, Sunita Ahuja had a powerful and heartfelt conversation with Zoom for their Mother’s Day special: Letters To My Mom. Amid the prolonged buzz surrounding their possible separation after 37 years of marriage, the rumour mills have seeped to the extent that fans have started speculating that there might be chances of extramarital affairs involved. Addressing the elephant in the room, Sunita clarified that Govinda would never leave his family for another woman. In her words:
“Jis din confirm hoga, ya mere aur Govinda ke muh se aap log sunoge, vo alag baat hai. But I don’t think Govinda can live without me, nor can I live without Govinda. And Govinda can never leave his family for any stupid person or stupid woman.”

During the interview, Sunita also addressed their separation rumours, clarifying that they were just rumours without any truth to them. In her signature bold stance, Sunita called out the gossip culture and the tendency to make up stories that have no truth to them. She further added that she firmly believes God will never break her home, shutting down any speculation about a potential rift between the couple. Sunita said:
“Afwaah, afwaah, afwaah, aap pehle pucho toh ki ye baat sahi hai. I will never accept it, aur kisi ka himmat hai toh mere samne aake pucho. Kisi ne afwaah uda diya toh aap haan me haan mila rahe ho, that is not right. Agar hoga toh I will be the first one to come in the media and speak about it. But I have belief ki mera ghar kabhi bhagwan nahi todega.”
Sunita Ahuja and Govinda’s love story
Sunita and Govinda’s relationship is one for the books. Their love story began decades ago, in their youth, when Govinda was in his final year of B.Com and Sunita was a ninth-grader staying with his sister. Despite a rocky start, their bond grew stronger with time, and they tied the knot in a secret marriage in 1986, years before Govinda earned his fame as a superstar. Their hush-hush marriage was allegedly kept under wraps for four years.
Together, Sunita and Govinda have built a family of four, with their two kids, Tina and Yashvardhan Ahuja, and the latter is all set to make his Bollywood debut. In an earlier interview, Sunita Ahuja had clarified that they had been living in separate houses just for professional commitments and privacy concerns, and that it had nothing to do with them edging towards a divorce.
